Zimbabwe National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ZNSPCA)

Welcome to the Zimbabwe National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ZNSPCA), the compassionate heart overseeing the welfare of animals across Zimbabwe. At the core of our mission is the commitment to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of all creatures, great and small, through dedicated care, education, and advocacy.

Our Purpose:

Established as the umbrella organization for all SPCAs in Zimbabwe, ZNSPCA plays a pivotal role in coordinating efforts to protect and enhance the lives of animals. We operate with a three-fold focus:

Rehoming and Adoption:

• Facilitating the adoption process is a key aspect of our work. ZNSPCA collaborates with local SPCAs to match animals with loving families, promoting responsible pet ownership and creating lasting bonds between humans and their furry companions.

Cruelty Prevention and Intervention:

• ZNSPCA is at the forefront of combating animal cruelty. Through education, awareness campaigns, and swift intervention in cases of abuse, we strive to create a society where every animal is treated with the respect and compassion it deserves.

At ZNSPCA, our values are deeply rooted in compassion, integrity, and a commitment to making a difference in the lives of animals. We believe in:

• Compassion: Demonstrating empathy and care for animals in need, fostering a society where their well-being is prioritized.

• Integrity: Upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct in all our activities, ensuring transparency and accountability.

• Collaboration: Working hand-in-hand with local SPCAs, communities, and individuals to create a collective impact on animal welfare.

• Upholding the five freedoms of animal welfare

1. Freedom from hunger or thirst by ready access to fresh water and a diet to maintain full health and vigour

2. Freedom from discomfort by providing an appropriate environment including shelter and a comfortable resting area

3. Freedom from pain, injury or disease by prevention or rapid diagnosis and treatment

4. Freedom to express (most) normal behaviour by providing sufficient space, proper facilities and company of the animal's own kind

5. Freedom from fear and distress by ensuring conditions and treatment which avoid mental suffering
